design.
Drawing inspiration from architectural disciplines, I design stages and artistic interfaces that are visually intriguing, thought provoking and interactive. My work aims to facilitate new connections between people in creative environments, while inspiring people to bring dreams into reality through collaborative design projects.
‘Season1’
rylstone, NSW - 2022
Season1 was an outdoor ‘wedding-festival’ that took place in the serene countryside of Rylstone NSW in April 2022. I was contracted to design and build a stage which would be the centrepiece of this special event.
Brief: “Design a stage that subverts traditional concepts of marriage by fusing alien spaceship ideas with Asian temple designs, Celtic lattices and kitsch love hearts.”
‘Breadcrumbs’
Brunswick EAst, VIC - 2021
Breadcrumbs is a project that I designed and developed amidst the Covid-19 lockdowns of 2021. It was a 'pop-up' gastronomic experience that combined fine dining with immersive art and sound. The inaugural breadcrumbs event showcased a finely curated selection of creative gastronomic ideas that spanned across multiple dishes with drinks and entertainment.

‘Motherchip’
The Blue Mountains, NSW - 2018
A smorgasbord of screens, blue gum flooring and dissembled electricals, this installation was the centrepiece of an outdoor experimental music gathering.
The ‘Motherchip’ subverted the paradigm of having a DJ front and centre at a music event. Instead, the performer was situated in the rear centre of the dance floor, where the music sounds best. At night time, several visual projectionists and lasearists collaborated to produce an incredible illumination of this centrepiece and the tree that it was perched on. The DJ’s face was live streamed to the centre TV with additional effects.
‘Wierd 3.5’
The blue mountains, nsw - 2017
Teeming with life in the form of diverse plants, this ‘living stage’ was built from timber panels, birch ply and Australian hardwood finishings. The design was the focal point of a two night outdoor festival in The Blue Mountains during the Summer of 2017. The concept behind this design was to create something that was an extension of the natural environment that inspired connection to nature. Edible flora drew guests in!
Dramatic lighting at night breathed more life into the stage as well as the surrounding environment. Custom 3D projection content, ambient LED lighting and high wattage lasers contributed to the magical atmosphere.
‘Portal’
Various locations,
NSW, VIC & Qld - 2017/2018
Inspired by the beauty of asymmetric design, this pentagonal facade has featured as an immersive art installation at several outdoor events as well as the being the MainStage for AI Festival in Victoria.
The design was inspired by a circuitboard. It was created using CNC engravings and multi-layered marine-ply panels. ‘Portal’ comes to life at night, when visual projectionists, light artists and lasearists collaborate on illuminating the art piece. On one occasion in NSW, a HD LED Fan was placed in the centre to create 3D visual effects.
‘Satellite’
The Blue Mountains, NSW - 2018
Spanning two meters in diameter, ‘Satellite’ was an immersive art installation that featured a mixture of wood, mesh and lycra. The piece came to life at night when visual projectionists shun light onto the diverse mixture of projection surfaces.
‘Mothership’
Cessnock, NSW - 2016
A stage design that was made for an over night outdoor event in Cessnock NSW. The event decor was futuristic and therefore the idea behind the stage was to blend the concept of a ‘spaceship’ with an ‘underworld-aquatic theme’. Six visual artists collaborated on the paint job… the result was fantastic!
‘Ammonite’
tharwa, act - 2016
Spanning nearly twelve meters wide and seven meters tall, the ammonite stage design was the MainStage of a multi-day outdoor music event with over 1000 attendees. The design was developed in collaboration with projectionists who each made custom content for their visual projection performances.
Ford Transit Van Conversion
Prepared for a eight month road trip around Australia (March - October 2017)
Purchased as an ‘empty-shell’ furniture removal van, this project was a complete interior design fit out and build. The end result was beyond our expectation: Equipped with 300W Solar Panels, an incredible sound system and plenty of storage, this van was comfy companion to travel with around Australia. Other features included Ironbark cladding, birch plywood roof with warm LED downlight, ceiling fan, dual deep cycle batteries, powerful inverter, 240V power outlets, sink with grey water system, 40L Engel fridge, extendable bed and rear storage drawers.
